Principal's Corner
I want to take this opportunity to welcome you to Randall Elementary School. Whether you have been a part of the Randall family for many years, or are new to us, I look forward to working with you throughout the year.
Randall Elementary is the oldest operating school in the Madison Metropolitan School District. The landscape has changed since its doors first opened in 1906, but the pride and sense of honor in being a Randall Raccoon have flourished. Our school cherishes its wondrous blend of traditional and progressive approaches to education.
Since 1984, Randall has been a partner school with Franklin Elementary, a unique arrangement in that children from two school attendance areas join for pre-kindergarten through second grades at Franklin and third through fifth grades at Randall.
Franklin and Randall share a common mission — to foster an energetic, child-centered community of learners — to embrace the diversity of our school community — to assure academic success for all — and to enable all children to be joyful, lifelong learners who respect themselves and others, and who recognize their responsibilities to the group and to the larger community through:
- An integrated, developmentally-based, multicultural curriculum designed to meet each student’s needs
- A caring, safe, and respectful environment
- High expectations that enable all students to reach their potential
- A school, family and community partnership sharing responsibility for student learning
Randall stands within cheering distance of the University of Wisconsin’s Camp Randall Stadium. While the school formally claims Regent Neighborhood membership, Randall is also home to the families from the Bay Creek, Bay View, Bram Addition, Brittingham, Dungeon-Monroe, Greenbush, South Campus, and Vilas neighborhoods. Randall is an inclusive school, welcoming all children and their families to our learning community.
Sincerely,
John Wallace
Principal
