Celebrate National Park and Recreation Month

Summer is the perfect opportunity to spend time outdoors, and this July, Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) and Madison Parks are teaming up for National Park and Recreation Month. This year’s theme, “Build Together, Play Together," reminds us of the role parks and recreation play in building strong, vibrant and resilient communities. Park and recreation programs are essential to a community’s health and well-being and help cultivate lifelong friendships, memories and family bonds that people hold dear decades later.

Throughout July, Madison Parks and MSCR are offering free community events for all ages. Check out an event near you and help us “Build Together, Play Together.”

Attend Free, Adapted Open Swims in July, August

Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) and Madison Parks are hosting free, Adapted Family Swims on Friday, July 11 and August 1, 5:30-7 p.m., and Saturday, August 16, 10-11:30 a.m., at the Goodman Pool, 325 W Olin Ave.

The event is open to individuals who have disabilities, their caregivers and their families. The pool has a zero-depth entry and water wheelchairs are available.

According to Auggie Brenzel, MSCR Adapted Recreation and Sports Specialist, “it's an event where anyone with a disability can feel comfortable and welcome in the water."
